Issue
When creating an emulated drive using the Disc Image Loader, the system will BSOD (Blues Screen of Death) on the first two attempts before loading correctly.
Resolution
There are two steps to resolve this issue: - Make sure that the SCSI driver has been updated to the latest version available from the manufacturer's website. Follow these steps to determine the brand and current version of the SCSI adapter.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Double-click on the System, icon.
- Click on the Hardware, tab.
- Click on the Device Manager, button.
- Click on the + next to SCSI and RAID controllers.
- Right-click on the SCSI adapter and select Properties.
- Click on the Driver, tab.
- Make note of the Driver Provider, and the Drive Version.
- Close all opened windows.
This driver information will be useful in determining whether the most recent version of the SCSI adapter is currently installed.
- If the issue persists, the following work around has been proven successful:
- Attempt to create an emulated drive three times
- Restart the system after each BSOD.
- On the third attempt, the emulated drive should be created successfully.
