Issue

When the product is started for the first time, the error message is displayed:

sbwin32.exe could not be located in shw32.dll

Repeating the install or launch procedures does not solve the problem.

Resolution

To solve, copy the contents of SYSTEM sub-folder of the product (e.g. C:\Program Files\Sonic\Simple Backup\System) up one level to the root of Simple Backup folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Sonic\Simple Backup). Restart the PC and launch the product in the normal fashion.

  • Open the Windows Explorer utility found under the Accessories tab on the Programs menu.
  • Open the Simple Backup System folder (c:\Program Files\Sonic\Simple Backup\System\).
  • Click on the "Tools" menu at the top of the window and choose "Folder Options".
  • Click on the "View" tab and check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types".
  • Left click the "OK" button to close the window.
  • You should see several files with a .dll file name extension.
  • Click on the "Edit," menu and select "Select All."
  • When all the files are highlighted, open the "Edit" menu at the top of the window and choose "Copy".
  • Open the Simple Backup directory (c:\Program Files\Sonic\Simple Backup\) folder and open the "Edit" menu.
  • Choose to "Paste" from the edit menu to copy all the .dll files to the Simple Backup directory.
  • Close all open windows and restart the PC.
  • Launch Simple Backup.
